Gall Bladder Surgery- No joke!

So. It's truly killing me to say gall bladder surgery but I don't want to sound like a know it all and say lap chole or cholecystectomy like a know it all. My job and schooling was xray which we do a lot in surgery. One thing being lap choles. The inject dye and need a few seconds of fluoro (constant xray) before officially removing and that's where we come in.

I had the procedure done at the same hospital I went to xray school at and know most of the techs so god only knows who got to see me in my naked glory, but whatevs.

Procedure day-
1030 to register. I was back at 11ish. Gowned up and ready for my IV. I knew the woman wasn't going to get it. I don't have the greatest veins ever but I have a pretty dang good one on my right arm- missed. So when I mean she missed- she went in at the wrong angle and shoved so far it went through the vein. Tried again in my hand- same thing. Says she has to call the IV team. Great.

3 minutes later at 1130 (one hour before my scheduled procedure) a nurse walks in and says Dr. Madden is ready. Really? The woman missed my IV and he's running an hour ahead of schedule and I'm stuck here! Dr. Madden comes in. Asks if I have any questions. Nope. Explains the risks. That intentions are laparoscopic but may have to open me up. If he does open me up I would stay all weekend. I immediately start crying. I cannot stay all weekend. No way. I have never been away from those babies. Not happening.

Anesthia comes in. Said my veins look fine. Thank you. He explained the risks , said he had a few more people to visit if I wasn't done when he was done he would stick me.

In walks the IV team. A cute little 69 year old lady. Gets me on the first try. Thank you.

We wait and wait. Finally I send my husband to the nurses station to reload someone I'm ready and they come in, start meds. I'm glad nothing happened to me during the procedure because they really didn't let me kiss or hug Andrew goodbye. Guess they just assumed gall bladders are no big deal. Ha! I could feel the effects as I was wheeled back. I remember getting on the OR table.. I think? Putting a mask on me and having me breathe.. Can't remember what theh said actually and that's it. I think I woke up when they wheeled me back? Or it could have been hours later? I really don't know. I must have been asleep for a while. Once I finally got to leave the immediate recovery room where my neighbor was highly pissed and yelling that he was going to leave- he said it had been 2 hours since he talked to Dr. Madden. Whoops. What can I say. I like to sleep.

You could tell it was a mad house. I peed and drank my drink and 4 saltines which I didn't think I could swallow. And no one came back. Finally a nurse saw me peeking and rushed through my discharge and I was on my way!

What's the first thing I ate?

Little Ceasers pizza.

No Shame.
Day of surgery. She knew.

Sick Babes

Nothing is worse. NOTHING.

And it's even worse when one has been crying all morning (when I say crying it's screaming, a combo of snot, drool and tears). I was bawling because I didn't know how to help her. I tried to rock, bounce, cuddle. We have meds, orajel, even teething tablets which I don't like to use. Wouldn't eat breakfast or drink from a sippy. I was dying for naptime.

Quietest she was the entire morning. Lasted 3 minutes.

I was SO ready for naptime. You could tell she was exhausted and felt horrible- 9:06 she was up and screaming again. I literally threw on makeup and then decided to wear my glasses that way if it looked bad no one could really tell. & still had my PJS on. Got the girls out of her crib, dressed bookbag packed and left!

I brought my check book. Say what?! Yes, checkbook since I left my purse at work and all my cards in there. Thankfully I had minimal cash and a target gift card.

We stocked up on Tylenol, Motrin, and I even bought juice! The girls have NEVER had juice yet. Not once. They loved water so I thought it was dumb to mess with it. But if Ella's not going to drink water, she's getting hydrated one way or another! Onto the mall play place. Approximately 1030 is the perfect time. Basically no other kids.

Took her bottle! Yay! The mall play place was my saving grace today! Went and got Burger King and stopped at the best Mamaw and Papaws house in town!

Now we are home and the girls are napping. Fingers crossed their temps are okay when they get up?

Today it worked out that Ella is a crab at home- she is always great in public! Hallelujah!

Future Predictions

So we all have these dreams and idealizations about what, how and who our kids will be. Even at birth we postulated. Since the girls are a year and we already have "thoughts" we might as well make our first prediction!

Ella,

You are...

Fearless
Strong
Confident
A leader
Flexible

Our guesses...

You will be great at sports!
Gymnastics- especially
Daddy is hoping basketball
We are both hoping tennis
You will be a leader
Have a deeper voice
But Bri will speak for you
You will be smart
Actions will speaker louder than words
Dance

Initially since you were the smallest babe- we thought Bri would take up for you but I think it will be the opposite now!

Bria Cole,

You are...

Sweet
Lovable
Love to follow your sissy
Sensitive
Interactive
Talktative
Social
So happy
Cautious/careful
Full of laughter

Our guesses...

You will be daddy's little assistant
Tennis player
Daddy's hoping basketball
Will talk for sissy
Be extremely social
Hate roller coasters
Musical
Dance
You will be smart
Have a high pitched voice
Maybe even sing!

But best of all you will be best friends no matter what!

Weekend Ramblings

OverSo we all survived Daddy's first week back to school! & I wasn't even late for work once! Even better!

So I was definitely looking forward to this weekend for some much needed family time. I worked a lot this week to be home when Andrew was gone so I truly only had Wednesday off. We had plans to take the girls to their first fair! Our local fair has been gone since 2008. Andrew and I were only dating at the time. Almost engaged!

(Let me take a moment to cry about my pre-baby body... *tear*)

This was around that time in 2008!

Clearly time has changed!

I digress. Of course, Tuesday I had to be at work for a 12 hour shift and my body decided to hate me on Monday. Having intense attacks of pain twice that day. The evening attack lasting from 750-3am when I finally for relief thanks for vomiting, and a heating pad. I so desperately wanted to go to the Emergency room which I NEVER say. Andrew is always trying to convince me to go but I'm always over here on the floor in pain, crying saying - it'll go away eventually like a dummy. SO- of course the night I agree to go- we have no one to come stay with the girls. My parents weren't really an option because they watched the girls Monday and were scheduled to watch them Tuesday as well. My sister has two kids of her own to take care of. & Andrews parents didn't answer. So I suffered. Not in silence either. I'm not proud of the things I said.

I knew I needed to get something done. I was scheduled to have an ultrasound in June. But I was Supposed to fast and totally didn't. That's what happens with your girls wake up at 530am! Then I didn't have any attacks, just a dull pain - so I said forget about it.

I texted my long lost friend and she squeezed me in Saturday morning. There goes my day to sleep in. I got it done and gall stones. A ton of them apparently. General surgery appointment here I come. I'm freaking out.
#1) I REFuSE to spend the night away from the girls. Not happening.
#2) I have 2- 23 pound 1 year olds. One of which Is walking and one is not. How on earth am I supposed to recover and not lift with them running around?? It's impossible.

So that ruined my Saturday morning. Until I bought a new stroller and came home to my girls! It was time for the Taylor county fair!!

I'll let the pictures do the talking.
Ella- loves cotton candy had the merry go round.
Bria hated both.

Overall- it was fun but a lot of work! The new stroller is definitely nice and we needed it for the rough road but Ella love to sit up. It was killing her to lay back. Hence the baby wearing above. Which I'm new at but Ella seemed to love it! It was a tad hot but I could deal!

Here's just a few photos from the rest of the weekend. We are practicing going up the stairs- for when momma can't carry us! Haha!

& now that I see that 2008 photo I will finish my Oreos and pray that I can work out comfortable after my gall bladder is take out. I WILL get back to that!

Happy ONE Year Baby Dolls!!

I did not cry ugly tears at their birthday party! Wahoo! Only almost cried on their actual birthday and not because I was sad they turned a year! We celebrated with a bang! Cutting 4 teeth, a bulging molar, an ear infection, bad naps, and shots. It was a rough day!

I know I say this every month but really?! I have one year olds! Sad!! Now I know why people continue to say months- makes you feel a teensy bit better!!

Ellie Bellie--

Can I say how proud I am of you?? You walk everywhere!! You are such a pro! You aimlessly walk around the house with fake silverware or phones or snacks in your hand with no agenda. Sometimes you chatter, most times not. It's quite adorable. You would rather walk now than crawl. The only time you crawl is when sissy, momma and daddy okay the screaming game before bed and down times after naptimes. It gets lots of giggles. You always stop after a few crawls and make sure we are still coming after you! Then once we scream- you die laughing and take off again. I was in tears one night laughing so hard. It was perfect!

You had a big month- you celebrated your first birthday! Daddy went back to school, you had your 2nd ear infection, we are starting to graduate to some 18 month items, and you got fitted for shoes!!! I'm glad to know I'm not crazy now trying to squeeze your big feet into a the hand me down shoes we have recieved!

We went to stride rite - the only baby specific shoe store and you were sized as a 5.5 wide! She also said a 6 would work!! Crazy!!

Your shoes are the pink ones! Sissys are the silver! You skipped over the baby walking shoes completely and got your first pair of hard soles! You look so adorable in them but you also are sneaky and can get the Velcro undone!

You are officially wearing size 4 diapers, all 12 month clothes-- jeans finally fit, and I had to retire our favorite 6-9 month jeggings. Too small :/ You can wear some 18 month stuff- it just depends! You weighed in at 22.5 lbs at the dr- almost 23 and were 29.5 inches! In the 75% percentile! We knew you were tall! Taking after momma!

You and sissy are on table food! And you love it! Some of your favorites are pancakes, bananas, zucchini bread, green beans, hot dogs, grilled cheese, string cheese, ravioli, pizza and bread! Pizza is a new thing this month and it's a hit! We have started switching you to whole milk as well a little at a time and no problems whatsoever!

Your personality is fierce! You tackle anything and everything in your way! You are aggressive, but hilarious, forceful, but silly. You love being the leader and you do what you want - when you want. However. I almost had a breakdown moment when you came up to me and cuddled upon my chest - which you never do! You love your momma (ME) a lot, I can barely leave the room to go get your bottles ready, or food or to use the bathroom without you throwing a major meltdown! Regardless of who you are with! You love bathtime, snack time, breakfast, lunch and dinner time, you still love naps! You love chasing track, are obsessed who mommas phone, you love paying with your kitchen, the pop up toy and throwing all the books on the floor! You love all snacks, especially little crunchies. A new favorite is freeze dried fruit. You love your sippy- water only! You are getting much more hair- strawberry blonde- just like mommas. Your eyes are still a deep beautiful blue. You still look a lot like me, your face is just thinner than mine was as a baby, but still people think you look like daddy! You have 5 teeth! Another one is trying to come through, but we can't count that just yet! You are such a little toddler. I love it, but it makes me sad at the same time!

I'm so blessed and lucky to be your momma, this past year has been incredible, challenging, and wonderful in so many ways! Thank you little one for making me a mommy!! We love you to the moon and back little one!!

Bri Bri,

Oh how I love you, sweet thing! You are such a smarty! Your vocabulary is beyond what any 2 year old should have! Let alone 1! To say this past month has been fun is such an understatement! You will try to repeat everything we say! It's beyond adorable! You did walk 2 steps by yourself but it was with extreme caution and you haven't done it since and aren't interested! You are very careful in every move you make as to not hurt yourself. You are however getting very good at your walker. If you get stuck, you walk to the front of it and push it backwards. So I feel like you are somewhat close. You get everywhere by crawling. You love playing the scream and run game at the end of the day! Your laugh is completely contagious and makes me laugh even harder. Even if we don't chase you- and are getting Ella- you still die laughing. It's pretty cute!

You had a big month- you celebrated your first birthday! Daddy went back to school, you got teeth # 7and 8, we are starting to graduate to some 18 month items, and you got fitted for shoes!!! I'm glad to know I'm not crazy now trying to squeeze your wide feet into a the hand me down shoes we have recieved!

We went to stride rite - the only baby specific shoe store and you were sized as a 3.5/4 wide! Much smaller than your sister!

Your $45 silver shoes. Kind of expensive for baby shoes, but they are for early walkers! :)

You are officially wearing size 4 diapers, all 12 month clothes-- jeans finally fit, and I had to retire our favorite 6-9 month jeggings. Too small :/ You can wear some 18 month stuff- it just depends! You weighed in at 21.5 lbs at the dr- almost 22 and were 28.5 inches! In the 25% percentile!

Your personality is sweet, sensitive and lovable. You love your momma and daddy especially. You cuddle up next to is anytime. Also since Nanny and Pappy watch you while I'm working you are pretty attached to them as well! You love to cuddle, laugh, chase track, eat snacks, you love to dance, love to listen to music. You love Mickey Mouse clubhouse and doc mcstuffins, you love florida Georgia line songs and some like Bryan. You also love American Kids by Kenny Chesney. I didn't realize it was playing in the car and you and sissy started clapping and giggling to the beat! Smarties! I'm so proud of you Bri Bri! Your sweet smile and personality gets me everytime and I would be lost without you! Thank you for making me a momma little sis! This last year has been more than I could have ever imagined! I love you to the moon and back!
